We got talking about what Liminal Apparel might look like in 10 years time and its fair to say a big challenge has been laid down by these guys!.

Freeset’s busines model to many is upside down and counter cultural where freedom for Women and their families is what the business is measured on.

Its a bottom line and model which we at Liminal Apparel are proud to be associated with and are 100% commited to0, it’s not  always easy and thoughts of  easier alternatives creep in from time to time. But a photo or a story of a life changed from Freeset provides a good kick in the pants and reminds us of why we are doing what we do.

Its a crazy business model which some may totally disagree with and ask why we bother as it’s crazy?. In reply, we struggle to put it into words but one comment would be yes it is crazy and look at the result so far!- crazy and let the crazy dreams continue!.

New Zealand Fashion week has started with a hiss and a roar! and we’re going along for our first time!!

This years event has been brought forward 3 weeks to prevent clashing with the Rugby world cup, and features a fantastic line up of NZ designers.

The boys at liminal Apparel have be salivating over the fine mens garments produced locally in christchurch by MisteR Mens wear for some time, friendships were struck up with MisteRs, (Mickey and Ra) and a post quake gathering one night led to discussions about MisteR and Liminal Apparel teaming up to bring a fair trade organic gift bag for all the guests attending MisteR’s show…. the rest is history really!.

We are so excited to supply MisteR 100% fair trade organic tote bags, and have huge respect for their work and choice to use natural fabrics. New Zealand Fashion Week also marks the debut of the duo’s new range of womens wear, We can’t wait.

After a hectic year of earthquakes and general crazyness, MisteR’s show aptly titled ‘Not so Grimm’ celebrates the journey that has been and introduces their winter collection 11/12. It also highlights their commitment to seeing fair trade organic products become part of NZ fashion.

Liminal Apparel

Here we come

on a cold winter work day, the boys at Liminal Apparel, stumbled across the

Live Below The Line Challenge… and decided to give it a crack, so for a 5 days NEXT WEEK (22-27 AUG)  we’ll be living below the line to help raise money for our chosen organisation- OXFAM.

The week of Live Below the Line is a week like no other. For 5 days in August, thousands of people across New Zealand and Australia will spend just $2.25 each day on food, and use our daily experiences to bring extreme poverty to the centre of conversation in all we do. We’ll all be challenged; we’ll struggle without caffeine, and have a faint feeling of being not quite full for the whole week. We’ll pool money to make $2.25 stretch just a little further…

We’ll do all of this because whilst we choose to struggle to Live Below the Line for one week, there are 1.4 billion people who have no choice other than to do it every day.
While its only a small glimpse into the realities facing millions of people each day we really want to stretch ourselves and keep remembering the fact that extreme poverty still exists!,
SO please support us, money is an easy thing we can give in the west and it really does make a huge difference, for aid, development and building sustainability  so that people in a less fortunate situation to us get a fair crack at life too.

It’s been a  while since our last post, lots of exciting stuff in the works, so keep checking back to find out the latest.

We’ve just come back from 3 days in the south of the south island, Oamaru, Timaru and Dunedin, some really cool shops, with some passionate shop owners stocking our Freeset bags. If you are heading down south some time soon, these are the shops you should pop in to visit.

Timaru

• Interlude – cute cottage gift store/cafe located close to the Hospital

Oamaru

• Tangibles – A huge collection of gift ware to suit all tastes, with a corner dedicated to men located on the main road

Dunedin

• Things design store – Very well laid out gift store with really cool gift ideas to suit everyone’s prices range located on George st
• The Loft – A really cool gift ware/gallery store located opposite Things design store up stairs
• Joseph Jones florist – Also located on George st, this florist has a bit of everything.

On the way home, we popped into Fleurs place in Moeraki for a shared platter and a Cracroft valley pinot gris… beautiful.
